Blog Journal #2

 Blog Journal #2

I have used both Word and Google Docs throughout high school and college. At first, I preferred Google Docs because it automatically saves the document. I have heard many anecdotes about people saying their laptop shut down or died while they were writing an important paper and they lost all their work. However, since starting college, I have started to use Word more frequently than Google Docs. I like it more than I thought I would!

The standard from ISTE that is my favorite is the 2.4 Collaborator standard because I like how it blends collaborating with older and younger teachers. This standard is about how teachers can collab with their colleagues and students to deliver a more finer learning experience. I feel this is important because it's useful to know how to work with others, because it helps the person who reaches out. I believe this is important because in the case of a new teacher collaborating with a more experienced teacher, it's important to know tried and true ways of learning to become a better educator.

I do and do not agree with some of the associated labels of a digital native. In my terms, I believe a digital native is someone who grew up with technology and is good as navigating it. I have seen differences between myself and a digital immigrant. One being that I find it easy to understand and search through websites and apps. When I compare myself to an older person such as a family member, I've noticed they take more time to find what they're looking for or trying to do. This has made me grateful to live in a digital world where knowledge is at my fingertips, literally. I'm glad I can find information easily and use it to my advantage. In the future, I believe my students will be even smarter than me at handling technology. It is growing as a rapid pace and by the time they are students, they will already know more than me!

Blog Journal #1

Welcome to my first blog post!

My name is Brianna. I was raised in Southwest, Florida, but I am Mexican and bilingual. Growing up in a Hispanic family, I was always taught to work hard to accomplish what I really want in life. Coming to FSU is a sign of my dedication and perseverance to my education. I like eating sushi, watching shows, and spending time with my family. I have two brothers, I'm the middle child. We also have a dog named Sammy who spends his days running around our house and eating.

I have had to use technology in a lot of my classroom settings. When I was in high school, we used our laptops to access Canvas. In college, I have used my laptop to do the same. In a previous classes, I used Flipgrid to create videos as a discussion post for my class. I also used it to respond to other classmates. In this class, I hope to understand different ways I can use technology to my advantage in an education setting.

For my PLN, I use Youtube, my friends, and social media. When I need help on a concept I have difficulty understanding in class, I go to YouTube to help me understand a lesson. As for my friends, if I want to learn more about something or someone, I ask them and they help me out. When I search for things on social media, I can find out about stuff on my own too! These different resources help me to understand and support my learning needs :)
